Monorail Transport
The Walt Disney World Monorail System is one of the most iconic and convenient transportation options available at the Walt Disney World Resort. Sleek, elevated, and efficient, the monorail offers a quick way to travel between select resorts and theme parks - free of charge to all guests, whether staying on-site or not.
What Is the Disney Monorail?
The monorail is a high-speed, elevated train system operating on a dedicated concrete beam. It provides reliable and scenic transit between key locations around the resort. It’s both a transportation method and an attraction in itself, offering elevated views of the parks and resorts!
Monorail Routes
There are three monorail lines in operation at Walt Disney World, all of which depart from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) at the front of the Magic Kingdom where the guest car park is located.
1. Resort Monorail Line
This loop services:
Magic Kingdom
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC)
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
This line is ideal for guests staying at one of the monorail resorts or visiting their restaurants or shops. It runs in a clockwise loop and stops at each location.
2. Express Monorail Line
This line runs non-stop between:
Magic Kingdom
Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC)
It’s the quickest way to reach the Magic Kingdom from the TTC (where off-site guests park for Magic Kingdom access). You can also travel from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom by ferry boat, however the Monorail is often much faster.
3. EPCOT Monorail Line
This line connects:
Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC)
EPCOT
This longer route offers a scenic ride, including a loop through EPCOT's World Celebration, before stopping at the park entrance.
Hours of Operation
Monorail service typically begins 30 minutes before the earliest park opening and runs until about an hour after the latest park closing. However, hours can vary seasonally or during special events. Service may also be impacted during storms or scheduled maintenance.
How Often Do Monorails Arrive?
Trains typically arrive every 5–10 minutes, though wait times may increase slightly during off-peak hours or if there are operational delays.
Accessibility
All monorail stations and trains are wheelchair and ECV accessible. Cast Members are available to assist with boarding and disembarking.
