Disney Resort Bus Transport

Staying on-site at a Walt Disney World resort hotel means you're able to take full advantage of the Disney Bus Transportation system. This means you get 100% free transport to any Disney theme park, water park, or Disney Springs.

Even if you aren't staying on-site, you can still use the buses, which make them ideal for visiting resort restaurants, traveling between parks, or visiting Disney Springs during a park day.

Bus Routes: From A Resort

Free bus transport is provided to every theme park, water park, and Disney Springs from every Walt Disney World resort. Each resort has one or more dedicated bus pickup locations where you can board one of several different buses that run on a loop to each park.

When you board a bus, it might stop at a few different places around the resort before heading on to your final destination, but once it gets going, you'll typically be at the destination within 15-25 minutes, depending on distance and traffic.

Bus Routes: From A Theme Park

If you've been visiting a theme park and wish to get a bus back to another resort, head to the park's entrance area and follow the signs to the bus terminal. Each park has large boards up with numbers designated to each bus stop, telling you where that bus goes. Pick the resort (or Disney Springs), and head to that numbered bus stop to board your bus.

Bus Routes: How to get to the Water Parks

Disney's water parks operate on a different opening schedule from the main theme parks, with one water park often being closed for part of the season - be sure to check the park hours for your trip to ensure you know which water park will be open.

When traveling to Typhoon Lagoon, your resort bus will typically take you to Disney Springs, where you'll need to transfer to a Typhoon Lagoon shuttle bus. If you're staying at one of the All-Star resorts, you may find that a direct bus to both water parks is provided instead; however, it's not always guaranteed, so be sure to plan for the additional time needed to transfer.

Blizzard Beach buses operate similarly to those at most resorts. You'll be taken to the Animal Kingdom bus station, where you'll transfer to a Blizzard Beach shuttle bus. There are, however, exceptions, and sometimes guests staying at specific resorts will find that a dedicated bus is provided. This varies depending on how busy the resort is, and the easiest way to find out is to check the My Disney Experience app under your reservation, where you'll find a live schedule for the buses at your resort.

Bus Routes: How to get to Disney Springs

A dedicated bus service runs from every resort to Disney Springs during its opening hours. These typically start a little later than the theme park buses unless Typhoon Lagoon is open and a shuttle bus service is operating. Disney Springs buses operate until one hour after closing.

There are no bus services offered between Disney Springs and theme parks; however, you are free to get a bus to a resort, and then get another bus to a theme park - this is only necessary for visiting Animal Kingdom, however.

Getting to Theme Parks from Disney Springs

  • Magic Kingdom: Board a bus for the Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, or Contemporary Resort, and use the monorail or walking path to the Magic Kingdom.

  • Epcot: Board a bus for the BoardWalk, Beach Club, or Yacht Club and enter Epcot via International Gateway. Or board a bus to the Riviera or Caribbean Beach resorts, and then take the Skyliner to the International Gateway entrance.

  • Hollywood Studios: Board a bus to the Caribbean Beach or Riviera resort, then board the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios. Or board a bus to the Swan & Dolphin, and walk or take a boat to Hollywood Studios.

  • Animal Kingdom: Board a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge, then transfer to a bus bound for Animal Kingdom.

Bus Frequency: How often do they run?

Bus frequency varies depending on the resort, destination, and time of day. Here's a general guideline:

  • Peak Times (Park Opening & Closing): During park opening and closing, buses are very frequent - often every 10-20 minutes. Expect crowds at the bus stops during these times! They can also be fairly slow to load if there are a lot of wheelchairs that need loading.

  • Midday: Bus frequency typically drops to every 20-45 minutes during the midday hours.

  • Early Morning/Late Evening: Buses run less frequently in the early morning and late evening outside of park hours. Check the My Disney Experience app for specific schedules for your resort.

  • Resort Size & Location: Resorts further from the parks (like the All-Star resorts, Pop Century, and Art of Animation) tend to feel like they have slightly less frequent buses than those closer (like the Polynesian or Grand Floridian). However, this is usually down to them having multiple internal bus stops to visit, which can sometimes have the downside of making the estimated arrival times incorrect.

Tips for using the Walt Disney World Bus Transportation

  • My Disney Experience App is Your Best Friend: If you are staying on-site, the app provides real-time bus arrival estimates, route information, and service alerts. Download it before your trip! You'll find the bus schedules on your hotel reservation menu page.

  • Bus Stop Locations: Bus stops are marked at each resort. Look for the familiar bus sign with the Disney Transport logo. If you're unsure of where to find them, the map in your My Disney Experience app can help, or you can visit your resort's front desk, where they'll be able to point you in the right direction, as well as provide a paper map of the resort.

  • Boarding Procedures: Line up at the designated bus stop and be ready to board quickly when your bus arrives. If there are guests with wheelchairs or ECVs, they'll be boarded first and should head to the dedicated boarding area at the bus stop. Each bus only has space for between 1 and 5 wheelchairs (depending on the Bus), so during busy times, you may need to wait for another bus to arrive if there are no spaces.

  • Luggage: Buses are not designed for large suitcases, and cannot be used to move between resorts with your luggage. Disney provides complementary luggage transfer between resorts instead.

  • Push Chairs (aka Strollers): All Disney buses allow you to bring strollers on board; however, they must be folded up prior to boarding.

  • Weather: During storms, bus services tend to get very busy; this is often due to other forms of transport, like the Skyliner and boat services, having to pause as they cannot operate during lightning. If you are staying at a resort with a boat service or the Skyliner, be aware that you may instead need to take a bus to/from certain parks during storms.

  • Overnight: Buses do not operate overnight. All bus services stop approximately 1 hour after park closing, except when there are special events on, such as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. If you do leave a park after hours and find no buses are operating, contact a cast member at the front of the park who will be able to help you get back to your resort.

  • Early Park Entry - Plan your trip: Every guest staying on-site gets 30 minutes early entry to the four theme parks. This means lots of people get buses to arrive early. If you are planning to take full advantage of early entry, you must aim to arrive at the park at least 30 minutes before it starts (so 1 hour before park opening). As many other guests are doing the same, this can cause the bus routes to become very busy, and it may mean having to wait for a second or even third bus.
